EMIN GEVORG (Muradyan Karlen) was born on September 9, 1919 in Ashtarak. An Armenian poet, translator. He graduated from Yerevan  Polytechnical Institute in 1940 and Moscow higher literary courses in 1956. In 1951-54 he was the correspondent of the newspaper “Literaturnaya gazeta”, in 1968-72 editor of the journal “Literaturnaya Armenia”, in 1973-98 a senior Researcher at the Institute of Art of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. His first collection of poems “Nakhashavigh” are lyrical thoughts about life and love. The collection “Pipe of Peace” (1942) had a political orientation. The collection “Nork” (1946) represented the maturity of the creative activities of the author. In the next collections style and thematic preferences of Gevorg Emin became more distinct. (“A new way”, 1949, State Award of USSR in 1951, “Searches”, 1955, “Till Today”, 1959, “Two ways”, 1962,  “At this Age”, 1968, “the 20th Century”, 1970,  “Century, Land, Love”,  1974, State Award of USSR in 1976, “Ah, this Masis”, 1980, etc.). Emin wrote also essays (“Seven Songs about Armenia” , 1974, second extra publication, 1981, documentary in 1967, scenario by Emin, grand prix "Prometheus -69” in Caucasian and Ukrainian Film Festival in Yerevan), articles, prose (“From Mashtots till now”,  1984 (thoughts on the Armenian Literature), “The traveler to Eternity”, 1985 (poems and prose). 

The Yerevan Experimental Theater staged the drama "Rain Music" on the motives of his poems. Emin translated the works of A. Blok, V. Mayakovsky, S. Yesenin, B. Pasternak, M. Tsvetaeva, M. Rilsky, N. Hikmet, E.  Remarque (“Book of translations” 1984, collection). 

Gevorg Emin died on July 12, 1998 in Yerevan and is buried in the yard of the Karmravor Church, Ashtarak.
