  World Poetry Day was declared by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) on the 15th of November in 1999. It was first celebrated in Paris where the headquarter of UNESCO is situated. As it was stated in decision the purpose of the day is to give impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements. 

Many events are going to take place on this day in Yerevan. 

The readers will have an opportunity to meet 7 poets at the Writer’s Union and the writer Ghukas Sirunyan at the Central Library after Av. Isahakyan. Poetry Theater will also perform in the hall of Writer’s Union. 

The events devoted to the 100th anniversary of Hamo Sahyan will kick off today. It is organized by the National Children's Library after Khnko Aper.
